VARSHA THAPA is a New York based singer-songwriter and model, born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. Varsha’s desire to share her music carried her to New York in 2013 and her passions blossomed amidst the city’s creative energy. In 2018, Varsha co-founded her first band, <a href="https://open.spotify.com/artist/56f6flnqe3x1mDqHSCwAWy?si=nonCz3zVQ-2dLE-lnDb-oA&amp;nd=1" target="_blank">Sita Virgin</a>, with guitarist Rob Mastrianni and together, they released two singles - “<a href="https://open.spotify.com/track/2ulsliYdb0P8jSKNsu3r65?si=7877615408f5498d&amp;nd=1" target="_blank">Purpose</a>” and “<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00Qi9cvm_UY&amp;ab_channel=VarshaThapa" target="_blank">Shattered</a>”. With just two singles out, Sita Virgin booked, packed, and enchanted crowds with shows in the city’s most sought after venues including Mercury Lounge, Pianos, Rockwood Music Hall, and Berlin NYC, setting the stage and preparing her for the launch of her solo music career. In 2020, Varsha came into her own voice, releasing her first single as a solo act, “<a href="https://open.spotify.com/track/1XJLWKpmm6XCB23wv2JZET?si=5713170247d04e42&amp;nd=1" target="_blank">Maaya</a>”; met with worldwide adoration, the singleand its accompanying music video amassed <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKtZtdZz-2o&amp;ab_channel=VarshaThapa" target="_blank">over three million views</a>. With cinematic elements and an autobiographical heart wrenching performance, the video adds screenwriter, producer, and actress to Varsha’s already powerful repertoire. While “Maaya” is about heartbreak and self-love, Varsha’s most recent EP, <a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/1HpSwGXsu8ixYzTtXQ2Sty?si=LcS0vnQ7Tje10tOBxWTZXg&amp;nd=1" target="_blank" style="font-style: italic;">Adhuro</a>, dives even deeper, investigating the complexity of love’s scope. Like all her previous work, the music is intuitive and tender – yet another testimony to Varsha’s emotional and spiritual journey. As a model, Varsha has also realized equally impressive achievements, including being featured on the cover of Vogue India and Vogue Italia as well as walking the runway for brands such as Bottega Veneta, Michael Kors, Mugler, Hermès, and Prabal Gurung. She has been photographed by world renowned photographers, including Inez and Vinoodh, and graced the pages of multiple international editions of Vogue, V Magazine, Elle India, and Harper’s Bazaar India.
