ADUT AKECH - MODELS.COM INTERVIEW NOVEMBER 2025

"Can you call it a comeback if you never really stopped? Still, it felt like one when supermodel Adut Akech swept onto the runway for Sarah Burton’s debut at Givenchy earlier this year: a runway return marked not by volume but by loyalty, aligning herself with the visionaries who have shaped her story from the start. Since then, she’s embraced a deliberately curated season, appearing only where it counts—high-profile cultural moments like Victoria’s Secret and Vogue World, alongside high-fashion peaks with Jacquemus, Schiaparelli, and select houses chosen with intention. As a new mom, Akech is easing back into work on her own terms, evolving into a version of herself that moves with equal parts clarity, joy, and purpose.

Born in South Sudan and raised in Kenya before moving to Australia as a young refugee, Akech has built one of the most formidable careers of her generation since her Saint Laurent S/S 17 exclusive. Early on, she was championed by key figures, including Pierpaolo Piccioli and Edward Enninful, who cast her for the 2018 Pirelli Calendar and remains one of her most trusted guides. Her résumé spans runways for Valentino, Dior, Givenchy, and Versace; global campaigns for Balenciaga, Fendi, Miu Miu, Saint Laurent, and Valentino Beauty; and era-defining editorials with Steven Meisel, Inez & Vinoodh, Rafael Pavarotti, Tyler Mitchell, and more. Twice crowned Models.com’s Model of the Year (2018 and 2019), she remains a fixture across leading publications, from Vogue to Pop, i-D, and The Perfect Magazine, while using her platform to advocate for displaced communities. Throughout her fast-rising career, she has maintained a disarming humor that shines through, whether backstage at Michael Kors’ latest foray or supporting Enninful as he signs copies of the debut issue of 72 Magazine. It’s from this legacy that she steps in front of the Models.com lens, captured by director Will Pippin, opening up about life as a new mom, aligning with the brands that truly resonate, and balancing high-fashion glamour with the real-life priorities that now anchor her."
